Terrible photo of me, but I ran into Dan Whitford from Cut Copy at Future Music yesterday!

For a music journalist who’s spoken to plenty of famous people before, I really went full stupid. Couldn’t get any words out aside from “oh my God I love you guys!” WAHHHH.

    London, mid-2013.

    Let’s make this shit happen.

No, seriously. I finish undergrad mid-2013, in all likelihood and I have a semester to wait before I can apply for honours, whatever - London. It’s happening.

    LIFE

Work is killer but good. New Year’s Eve is going to be ridiculous. 2011 was fantastic. I miss my boyfriend. Yuletide/Ashes to Ashes = !!!!!

NO, SERIOUSLY. Ugh Gene and Alex. Get it together.

    about me.

Hi. For those who don’t know me:

I’m Miki. Twenty, Japanese-Australian, and double majoring in Criminology and Human Rights Theory at Monash University. I’m also a writer at Beat Magazine. Humanities major cliche, retail goddess. Latte, no sugars thanks.

Dance music consumes me; my heart pulses to the thump of a kick-drum. My roots are in Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Tricky, Underworld, the Future Sound of London and the like; these days I find myself immersed in the murky depths of bass music. Hotflush, Autonomic and Hyperdub are my holy trinity. I also produce with my boyfriend under the name Flash Point and DJing is my therapy.

Thanks to Spooks I like to pretend I am a spy. I dislike it when people tell me that television is a less intelligent or worthwhile means of presenting a narrative. I shoot on film because I just can’t get my head around digital. Don’t ask me what my tattoo means. Sexual tension is my drug of choice. I am unashamed and unapologetic and when I grow up, I want to be safe and warm.
